RECREATION:

Recreation is provided at the bed and breakfast in the form of board games, checkers, cards and books, books and more books. There is also the modern addition of cable television in every room or you can just relax on the porch or sunbathe on the back deck in privacy.

WATER SPORTS:
Newfound Lake lies only two miles away. This body of water, which some say is among the cleanest in the world, is 4,106 acres in size and is considered one of the deepest lakes in New Hampshire (180 feet at its deepest point.) The lake has several sandy beaches, including Wellington State Beach, where you can enjoy water sports and fishing. In addition to lake fishing, the nearby Pemigewasset River provides excellent river fishing. For boating on Newfound Lake kayaks and canoes are available for rent at the Newfound Audubon Center and motor boats at West Shore Marine.

HIKING:
For those of you who like to hike New Hampshire provides excellent hiking. Within 10 miles of the bed and breakfast is Cardigan Mountain park, providing 1,200 acres of AMC (Appalachian Mountain Club)-owned woodland adjacent to 5,000 acres of state park and 50 miles of trails.

Also, just a 40 minutes drive away is the famous Franconia Notch State Park and the White Mountain National Forest which provides hundreds of miles of trails for the novice to experienced hiker and outdoor fun and recreation for all the family.

GOLF:
New Hampshire has over 90 golf courses with 21 in the Lakes Region. The courses nearby include Owl's Nest Golf Club, Den Brae Golf Course and White Mountain Country Club. For a comprehensive list of courses visit nhgreatgolf.com.

WORKSHOPS IN PAINTING, DRAWING, AND PRINTMAKING (Packages available):
Located on a forest hillside in Bristol, Newfound Art offers workshops in painting, print-making, and drawing on a year-round basis. The artist, Joan Wirth, is a visual artist with a Master of Art degree in Painting from Bard College, NY. She has held many faculty positions at colleges in New England and has taught numerous Landscape Painting Workshops. Her paintings have been exhibited in solo and group shows and are included in collections throughout New England.

OTHER OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES:
Other activities include biking, rock climbing, zip line tours, enjoying the beautiful fall colors, horseback riding, and for those who might desire a more leisurely pace there is a self-guided walking tour of Historic Bristol, antique stores, and local craft stores, not to mention the Tanger Outlet Center in Tilton just fifteen minutes away.


WINTER SPORTS:
For downhill skiing and snow boarding, we are located 14 miles from Ragged Mountain and approximately 40-50 minutes from Waterville Valley, Loon, Gunstock and Cannon Mountain Ski Areas. In addition, Cardigan Mountain offers backcountry skiing on alpine, telemark, and cross-country skis, backcountry snow boarding and snowshoeing above tree-line.
Snowmobilers can easily connect to local trails to enjoy winter scenes few people ever see.
